South Austin Living Water Update – Day 7 – October 10, 2013

Today was a wonderful day for the team.  We had a bit of time before heading to the drill site and school so took the opportunity to drive over to the Kids Alive Orphanage where we drilled a well back in February of 2012.  Six members of 2012 Wellthe team were a part of that team so looked forward to seeing the children and leaders again.  What we observed when we arrived can only be described as the hand of God moving in that program and with those kids.

Shortly after the drill was completed back in 2012, Kids Alive was asked to move the school by the landlord.  Apparently the timing of our being there and getting a well for them allowed them to be able to make the unexpected move.  Had the well not been there, it would have been difficult to have kept the school open and able to operate for some time.  The well ended up being a God send.

KA School 2012aWhat we saw at the orphanage also gave us hope for development and growth in Haiti.  Whereas last year their class rooms were little more than plywood and tin metal roof with no doors and barely any walls, now they have beautiful classrooms with a playground.  The kids were so happy and so healthy.  What a blessing.  Several on the team from 2012 had “adopted” some of the kids by supporting them financially through Kids Alive.  It was great reconnecting with them and seeing that they were in a much better position than they were a year ago.

After the Kids Alive we returned to the site where the locals were working on pouring the foundation for the final well set up.  The drill team was able to join the hygiene team in leading and helping with the lessons at the school.  We got to play and interact with the kids after the class.  What a great day.

Prayers make a difference.  Both on last year’s trip which we had the fortune to observe this year and for this year’s team.  God is good.
