Haiti Living Water Outreach Day 2 – October 5, 2013

Haiti Living Water Outreach Day 2 – October 5

We arrived in Haiti after a long two days of travel.  We landed at Port-au-Prince from Miami around 9:30 where we hooked up with Samuel Mondestin our LWI Haiti contact.  With a 6 hour delay before our final leg to Cap-Haitian, we went to a near by outdoor resort for lunch and relaxing until our flight.  Temperatures were near 90 with humidity about the same.  With little to no wind we relaxed as best as we could.

Saturday afternoon we boarded our flight from Port-au-Prince to Haiti in a small twin engine prop plane for an eventful 25 minute flight.  How do they navigate on these small planes you may ask?  Try using a Garmin!

Once we were able to pull our bags together we took our final 15 minute ride of our trip to the Living Water International Compound where we will call home for the next 8 days.  After a brief organizational meeting with Samuel, meeting the staff, and setting our agendas for the week we were able to get into our rooms and make sure all mosquito netting and fans were in place before night fall.

We closed the day with dinner and a quick devotional on Compassion from out LWI team lead Matt.

Tomorrow we will be attending the local church where Samuel attends along with meeting his family.  Typically if time allows and it is not too difficult to we try to attend the church of the village where we will be drilling the well.  Due to roads and timing we were not able to do that this year.

We will be breaking into three teams throughout the week.  The 4 women will lead our Hygiene Team while two groups of 4 men will be on the drill team.  The men’s teams will trade off drilling the well and supporting the Hygiene Team in order to get a break from the sun but more importantly allow them to participate in the outreach and ministry that will be taking place with the members of the village.

Thank you again for your prayers.  Our main prayers are for open ears and hearts of the members of the village, protection from the sun and humidity, safety, and our openness to listening for Gods direction.
